  • 9-16-2011

Transport: London 2012 has introduced an online journey planner to help ticket holders plan their journeys to venues. They also have compiled useful tools for businesses planning for Games-time travel disruptions for customers, staff and deliveries.

Venues and Infrastructure:  One year to go was marked by the completion of construction on the Aquatics Centre. Construction work has also been completed on the London 2012 International Broadcast Centre, the fifth venue to be completed on the Olympic Park.

Test Events: London 2012 has staged eight different test events since July 2011. Top British rider Mark Cavendish won the London-Surrey Cycle Classic, the biggest test event yet, while the highly anticipated London 2012 Beach Volleyball test event ended on a high at Horse Guards Parade. Sponsors: Lloyds TSB, the official banking and insurance partner of London 2012, recently launched their Games Time Ready Guide, designed to help businesses prepare to take advantage of the opportunities and overcome any challenges that London 2012 will bring. Meanwhile, LOCOG has reached its domestic sponsorship target of £700 million with the confirmation of Westfield as the Official Shopping Centre Developer. Additionally Nature Valley and Heathrow have been announced as Tier 3 sponsors.

During the Games: Tickets for the London 2012 Paralympic Games are on sale until 26 September. The London Media Centre has opened registration for media interested in reporting about the wider story taking place across London and the UK during the 2012 Games.

Legacy:
Plans for the Olympic Park after 2012 continue to progress. An agreement has been reached with Delancey and Qatari Diar for the purchase and long-term management of the Olympic Village. The OPLC has announced the shortlist of organisations to operate both the Aquatics Centre and the Multi-Use Arena after the 2012 Games. The future VeloPark owners have also agreed on an alternative scheme to create a new road cycle circuit and green space.
