We want to make it easy to apply for funding and we aim to make payments swiftly.


To qualify for a grant, you need to explain to us what has happened to your business, how it happened, and how money from the High Street Fund will help you stay in business. You also need to have reported the damage to the police and obtained a crime number.


Police Crime Reference Numbers – Important notes

In exceptional circumstances The High Street Fund may award a grant in the absence of a Police Crime Reference Number if satisfied by other evidence which demonstrates the clear link between the riots and your business loss. You should make every effort to obtain a Police Crime Reference Number as not having one may delay the consideration of your application.


To download the application form click here or collect a form from any branch of Barclays or Santander bank. You can either fill in the form at home or take it to the bank for assistance, although you are advised to fill in as much of the form as possible at home to make the processing of your form at the banks as speedy as possible.


All claims must be submitted by 30th September 2011.


When taking the form to the Bank you must take with you:


1. A passport or driving licence (including photo card) as proof of identity; and


2. An original bank statement that is no more than three months old which relates to and shows the address of your business; and


3. Your police crime reference number relating to damage to your business premises. We may check this number with the police.


To make sure our grants go to the small businesses which really need them, you will be asked questions about the damage your business has suffered. We may also make checks with insurance companies.


To receive a grant you must have a UK Bank Account and complete the form in English.


Your form will be processed swiftly and we aim to make a decision on your eligibility for a grant and process a payment within five business days. In all cases, whether your claim is accepted or rejected, we aim to communicate our decision within five business days of you making your application.


The making of the grant is at the total discretion of the Trustees.
