Major contract secured with Transport for London

  • 1-7-2013
AECOM has won an eight-year $500million contract with Transport for London (TfL) in joint venture with contractors FM Conway. It is by some way the largest value contract ever won by Europe’s Transportation practice.

This massive opportunity allows AECOM’s experts to develop new sustainable highway solutions. A delighted Richard Robinson, managing director for Transportation in Europe, thanked all those who “worked tirelessly over the past year to reap this great success”.

Richard extended a special thank you to St Albans-based director Rory Poole and the determined bid team who, “had the vision to chase this opportunity and forge the relationships across AECOM and FM Conway to bring in this huge project.”

CONWAY AECOM has been awarded one of the four new area-based highways contracts under the London Highways Alliance Contract. This is TfL’s new £1.8bn arrangement to deliver all highways maintenance and improvement schemes across the capital. AECOM will provide engineering and design services for boroughs in the North West of the city, including Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow, with FM Conway providing highways maintenance work.

AECOM has already worked with FM Conway on a number of projects including Cycle Superhighways and the Olympic Route Network. The joint venture was set up in 2012 in response to the buoyant operations and maintenance (O&M) market. This new contract is the second Highways O&M contract AECOM has secured so far in the UK.

“We have other significant contracts that we are waiting to hear news on,” noted Richard, “but this is a great step forward for securing our growth and stability in the UK market.”
